Jeffery played Keysha Black in 10 episodes of Curb Your Enthusiasm and appeared as Janila in the police drama Southland. Her growing résumé also included Men of a Certain Age, Scream Queens, American Vandal, Uncle Buck, Girl on the Edge, Teacher of the Year, Puzzled and Spider-Man.
Acting also ran in the family. Her twin brother, Carlon Jeffery, played Cameron Parks on Disney Channel’s A.N.T. Farm, giving the siblings parallel careers within the Disney universe.
Why Bree mattered to young Disney viewers
Jeffery’s defining role arrived with Disney’s Zombies in 2018. Bree was a bubbly cheerleader, a loyal friend to Addison, played by Meg Donnelly, and one of the bright personalities at the center of Seabrook’s supernatural school drama.
She returned for Zombies 2 in 2020 and Zombies 3 in 2022, then voiced Bree in the 2024 animated spinoff Zombies: The Re-Animated Series. Across those projects, Jeffery brought warmth and quick comic timing to a franchise that became a major favorite among younger Disney audiences.
The part carried a deeper significance for her. In an August 2025 interview quoted by the Los Angeles Times, Jeffery recalled seeing young Black girls dressed as Bree and realizing what the character represented.
“That’s what I want to keep doing,” she said of that influence.
Her final Instagram post, dated July 26, showed her attending Donnelly’s birthday celebration, a recent glimpse of the friendships that continued beyond the screen.
What the Zombies cast said about Carla Jeffery
Milo Manheim, who starred in the films as Zed, remembered Jeffery on his Instagram Story as “the sweetest, kindest, most loving person.” He also shared a clip from her memorable iCarly dancing scene.
“I pray you would want this brought back real quick,” Manheim wrote. “I fuckin love you. Thank you for spreading so much joy.”
Other members of the Zombies cast added their own tributes:
- Chandler Kinney called Jeffery “the brightest shining light in any room” and said the loss “doesn’t feel real.”
- Trevor Tordjman wrote that he would never forget her “energy and spirit.”
- Ariel Martin repeatedly wrote, “I love you.”
- Pearce Joza and Noah Zulfikar also shared condolences.
The messages reflected the same qualities highlighted by Jeffery’s representatives: humor, kindness and an unmistakably sunny presence.
Her management remembers more than a client
Alexanders Talent Management said Jeffery had become family during their 20-plus years together. The agency praised the joy and spirit she shared with viewers around the world through Bree and her many other performances.
“Carla was more than a client; she was family,” the statement read. “Our hearts are with Carla’s family and loved ones during this devastating time.”
It closed with a final farewell: “Rest beautifully, Carla. Your light will never be forgotten.”
